Teeing Off

Golf in the Lower Hudson Valley, from high schools to the pros

When is this guy going to hit the “on” switch?

April

One thing about covering Tiger Woods: you’re always waiting for him to snap to life, and  never entirely convinced he isn’t going to hole out his tee shot from 450 yards away.

The point is that even with Woods trudging along at 1-over par, nine shots off the lead, I’m still waiting for him to do something spectacular. And it sounds like he might need to.

Consider that no Masters winner since Jack Nicklaus in 1986 has been outside the top 10 after 36 holes. Pair that with the fact that Woods has never come from behind to win a major, and the conventional wisdom says he has to make up at least a little ground today, and a lot of it tomorrow.
