Perhaps Kenny Perry could be considered but then when you give up on a chance to compete in two of the most important events in the golfing calendar then you really don’t deserve to be considered as one of the best in the circuit. Woods of course had a brilliant start to the season but then the knee kicked in and that was that for his year. I think more than anything else, the reason why Paddy Harrington deserves the title is a) Coz he managed to defend his Open Championship which is a hard thing to do under any circumstance and one all the public gaze was on Greg Norman he managed to sneak in under the radar and take hold of the Claret Jug. Once that was accomplished, he played some unbelievable golf aided by great clutch putting to win back to back majors which is something unheard of in the present lot of players unless you are a Tiger Woods. So no two ways about who I would nominate for the award, if I had a say that is !!
