Teeing Off

Golf in the Lower Hudson Valley, from high schools to the pros

In like a lion

March

I know a lot of you were at the driving range or chipping in the back yard over the weekend as the weather finally relented. The snow is gone! The mittens are off! And there is real optimism we’ll be on the course in the next week or two.

We have some big plans for this space.

I am Mike Dougherty, and I’ll be posting here frequently. Over the last 20 years, I’ve gotten inside the ropes to write about Tigers Woods and Annika Sorenstam and inside the gates to play Winged Foot and Quaker Ridge. It’s not a job that inspires complaints.

The best stories are found closer to home, though.

Bookmark the page and check in as the seasons gets rolling. It’s going to be a work in progress, but we are hoping to have a plenty of useful information up on the blog in the coming weeks.

Do you have a problem with your game? Send me an e-mail and we’ll post some professional help. Like to play at different venues? We’re going to hit some of the local courses and review them, and then ask you to provide some insight.

Kevin Devaney is going to help out, and keep you up to date on the competitive high school scene.

So keep in touch, and don’t be shy if you’ve got any suggestions. There’s plenty more to come.
