Miller signs with Penn State

November
17

In case you didn’t see the morning paper, Mike Miller signed a National Letter of Intent to play collegiate golf at Penn State. The perennial All-State performer is a two-time Journal News player of the year.

Here’s the link to the story.

Miller, a senior at Brewster who’s father, Bob, is the head professional at Knollwood C.C., also considered Illinois and Coastal Carolina.

Good for Miller, he deserves it. Can’t wait for high school golf season!

  2. Nick

    Nice going Mike!

  3. saboo

Miller will lead Brewster to another Sectional Championship!

  4. cats

    Kaufman is better

  5. raiders!

NOO WAYY….Scarsdale is bringing it home. Gelber and Spiro. Best duo in the section

  6. cats

how you gonna tell me? kaufman won sectionals last year and an ijgt event!

  7. weary

that doesnt meaan anything cats. Matt Richards made states, but he is not a top ten golfer in the section

  8. jason

boys, boys, boys, lets settle down. John Jay is easily winning it all this year!

  9. Garnets

Rye is taking it all. We’re always dominant

  10. the editer

Who u guys think the top 10 in the section are.???

  11. Brewster Pride

    NICE GOING MIKEY!!!!!!!!

  12. saboo

you guys are dumb Miller is the best player hands down, he will pick up the slack for his team. Brewster will win sectionals

  13. saboo

Does anybody know the new league configurations?

  14. foih

well first of all saboo,,sectionals is an individual championship so the whole brewster team cant win lol. and i can only think of one player still in high school in section 1 who is close to millers talent

  15. Golfkid

foih, there is also a sectional championship for the top 3 teams in the section. Last year Brewster won it at cenntennial and the year before Rye won it at Links at unionvale. Also who do you think is near miller’s talent

and i believe the top 10 in the section (in order)
    1.Miller
    2.Kaufman
    3.Raitano
    4.Kim
    5.Christiana
    6.Shuttenberg
    7.Gelber
    8.Spiro
    9.Berardo
    10.Klimchuck

  16. foih

i think Raitano deserves the # 2 spot,, he placed 6th in the state championship and went to the Federtion championship with Miller

  17. jason

    my top ten is
    1.miller
    2.raitano
    3.kaufman
    4.christiana
    5.gelber
    6.shuttenberg
7.kim (still not sold on him)
    8.spiro
    9.kehoe
    10.Joesephs

and did Ian Fleming leave Brewster because if he did then it completely opens up the north league

  18. golfkid

good point that league is stacked! as i play in it.
    my prediction
1.John Jay (Deepest team in the league, not a top heavy team however. nobody is gonna light up the score but Turecomo and Kehoe should be good at the top)

2.Brewster(Miller will lead this teamm, and they have a good enough core. Plus they never lose at cenntennial, brewster has 2 huge assets in miller and centennial )

3.Fox Lane (Christiana is one of the top players in my opinion, i played with him during his 34 and he can be as good as miller, plus they’re freshman rubin is pretty darn good as he should improve greatly has im sure he can hit it further now)

4.Mahopac (lost too much after losing marisa and feehan. Raitano should help this team but i feel that they are not as deep as john jay, brewster, or fox lane)

5.Somers (Casola was their only hope)

    6.greely (not know for golf)

  19. greel

my top ten goes like this
    1.Miller
    2.Raitano
    3.Kaufman
    4.Christiana
    5.Josephs
    6.Kim
    7.Klimchuck
    8.Shuttenburg
    9.Spiro
    10.Gelber

  20. topten

1.Miller-whithout question the best golfer in section one
2.Raitano-Second best player, would be #1 with no miller
3.Kaufman-shoots consistent low scores but has not made it out of sectionals
    4.Shuttenburg-great golfer all around
5.Gelber-needs to makes states to improve
6.spiro-also needs to make it out of sectionals
    7,Josephs-great young player, needs improvement
8.Kim-made states kast year, might of been a fluke tho
    9.Christiana0-shoots very good scores
10.Matt Richards- made states but prob. was a fluke

  21. jason

    i thought matt richards graduated?

  22. jason

    nevermind he didnt

  23. rich

Who do you guys pick to win the indivual sectional championship

  24. nick

if anybody doesnt pick miller they’re crazy, but i guess people want to go out on a limb. The only person i would pick to beat Miller would be Kaufman, Raitano, or Christiana. Kaufman won last year so i doubt he can repeat. Raitano doesn really shoot low scores, but he’s very consistant. Christiana has the most ability to go low. He’s able and has shotten under par in tournaments. But i would choose Raitano because its not fair to choose Miller hahahah

  25. bobby Mac

miller has a curse on him at sectionals,,i think he shot 80 and 81 the first two rounds in the past 2 years,,ill go out on a limb and say its a Miller/Raitano playoff…that would be sick to watch

  26. wuttts goood

Is it me or does it feel that there has been a huge drop off in talent in section one. I feel that juniors and younger are not as talented as kids used to be with certain execptions of course (Kim, Shuttenberg, Christiana etc.)

  27. wutttts upppp

well only 1 out of the 3 you named actually made states so ya i agree the talent disappeared

  28. jason

yeah whats good iagree completely. I feel that the talent has dropped off. Just look at Harrison and Rye. Usually these two teams are at the top of the section and this year they might have a combined 3 players at sectionals at best. I believe 2 or 3 years ago they had a combined 13. There are no more Millers, Scialo’s, or Mumfords anymore.

  29. tortorella

I disagree, wutts up and whats good.
I feel there are many promising young players in the section. Schuttenberg is a very good sophmore, he only missed states by a shot, Kim has made states, Christiana has made the 2nd round of sectionals since freshman year, Ditursi is very good, Berardo only missed states by a couple, Joesphs is very good. The list goes on. Should be intresting how this year plays out

  30. wutttts upppp

yeah but the scores arent that great anymore,,,and mumford was never that good,,he’s like a time bomb waiting to go off

  31. jason

isnt it early for all this talk??? its like hockey season

  32. daniel

jason who cares about hockey…i have a question….if there was a playoff for the sectional title, what two names would be the most exciting to watch duke it out

  33. delveco

Most exicting would be Miller and Raitano. They are the best players in the section.

  34. wataquad

    Miller and Kaufman

  35. observer

    Christiana and Kim

  36. observer

    or
    Raitano and Shuttenberg

  37. larry

y shuttenburg,,,what has he done lol

  38. observer

Exactly, it would be nice to see a new star emerge

  39. larry

yeah ur right after miller and raitano leave theres no one good enough to be #1

  40. jase

yeah. Next year the only good players will be Christiana, Kim, Joesphs and Shuttenberg.

Let’s worry about this year though. I can’t wait till the season!

  41. larry

who’s gonna be the 9 players who make states???

  42. Daniel

I have a question. Do you think last year was a fluke of the sophmores? Do you believe that Derrick Kim is a top player in the section? Do you believe that Christiana’s hot streak during the season was luck, or is he actually that good? Thoughts?

  43. billy

derrick and richards might have been a fluke but we will never no cause so many good players graduated..so the competition really isnt there anymore

  44. jason

yes i agree because honestly i had never heard of either Kim or Richards until Sectionals. I heard of Christiana when he was a freshman but i dont know how good he actually is.

  45. dello

nah, both kim and christiano shoot good scores in tournaments, christiana just choked last year

  46. theeebestt

both will be good this year, no doubt

  47. garnets

Kim and christana are both good, they’ll be in the elietee group this year. Miller, Kaufman, Kim, Christana, and Raitano will be the top tier

  48. gray

    when does the season start?

  49. jason

The first matches come around the second week of april, but practices start in early march
