Mike Miller survived the unpredictable weather and opened the New York state meet with a 2-under par 70 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Course yesterday at Cornell, and has a two-shot lead.
The senior at Brewster has never won this event. 
It sounds like the wind and rain and unexpected cool temperatures made life difficult for the competitors. Stu Kaufman of Byram Hills was second among the Section 1 contingent with a 78. Derrick Kim of Clarkstown North, who captured this year’s sectional crown, posted an 82.
