Mike Diffley was on the first tee at Sahalee Country Club at 7:25 a.m. Pacific Time with James Ferguson, an amateur from Hilton Head, S.C. and Jay Norman from White Bear Lake, Minn. The U.S. Senior Open is the first major championship for the Pelham Country Club head pro, and judging by the bogey-par-double start, he was nervous. I’m guessing there was a self-depreciating remark or two, as well.
