There were probably a few uncomfortable moments when he finished up at Chambers Bay with a 75 on Tuesday, but when the afternoon scores began to come in, Mike Miller looked pretty good with a 5-over 148 total. Walking off the course, he was tied for 90th, and when all the scores were posted, he was tied for 47th.
Now it’s on to match play at the U.S. Amateur.
Miller avoided a 16-man playoff for the final six spots in the field by a stroke. Chambers Bay was playing four strokes harder than the Home Course, where he shot a 73. Miller is playing Joseph Bramlett of Saratoga, Calif., a 22-year-old Stanford graduate who played in the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach.
They will be teeing off at 11:40 Pacific time. Click here to follow the match hole-by-hole.
