Johnson Wagner posted his best finish of the season in the PGA Tour finale, tying for third in the Children’s Miracle Network Classic with a 17-under 271 total. He picked up a check for $244,400 and moved up from 153rd to 126th on the money list.
That gives the Garrison native conditional status on next season’s tour, meaning he will be able to play in a limited number of events, usually 15-20.
A second-place finish would’ve gotten him exempt status on the PGA Tour. Wagner closed with a 5-under 67. He was 7-under after rolling in three birdies to start the back nine and holing out from 105 yards at par-5 14th. A bad drive led to a penalty on the 16th, and Wagner took a double bogey.
