Every spring, the folks at GlenArbor Golf Club invite a small gaggle of media types and industry insiders to participate in a unique event called the Traditions of Golf Invitational. It’s the club’s way of saying thank you to people who promote the game and virtues of golf. Before anyone climbs in a cart, they honor an individual who’s spent a lifetime doing the same.
Gary Player, who designed the course, was the first recipient. Last year, Dennis Walters was honored. Dave Anderson, a gentleman journalist from the New York Times who’s spent five decades giving us all something to read or think about, picked up the award yesterday. The presentation was made by MGA head Jay Mottola.
As for the golf, it was spectacular. Thank you to Glen Arbor president Morgan Gregory, head professional Brian Crowell and Ken Benoit for a perfect event.
