Ben Crenshaw, Tom Lehman, Jeff Sluman and Hal Sutton have added their names to the growing list. They have committed to play in the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship on Aug. 18-21 at Westchester Country Club.
Crenshaw is a two-time Masters Champion who who won 19 times on the PGA Tour and captained the U.S. to an emotional Ryder Cup victory in 1999. He’s played at Westchester 22 times over the years, and finished tied for second in 1976.
Lehman has five PGA Tour wins, a number he’s matched since joining the Champions Tour in 2009. The former British Open champion has three wins this season and is in contention for Player-of-the-Year honors. Lehman could become the first golfer to win that recognition on all three major U.S. tours (Nationwide, PGA and Champions).
“It’s always been one of my very favorite courses,” he said. “I am absolutely thrilled to be going back.”
Sluman won six PGA Tour events, including the 1988 PGA Championship. He’s also got four wins in four seasons on the Champions Tour. The Rochester native has made 19 starts at WCC.
“It’s one of my all-time favorite courses,” Sluman said in a statement. “It’s an old-style golf course and just a neat course; I really like everything about the place. I loved it. It’s not an overly long course but it’s challenging because of the green complexes. But it’s fantastic just being in New York with the New York fans. It will be a wonderful place for the event.”
Sutton won 14 times during his stint on the PGA Tour. He won the Players twice and beat Jack Nicklaus for the PGA Championship in 1983.
The other marquee names in the field include defending champion Mark O’Meara, Mark Calcavecchia, David Frost, Bob Gilder, Jay Haas, Hale Irwin, Tom Kite, Corey Pavin, Nick Price, Loren Roberts, Scott Simpson, Bob Tway, Bobby Wadkins, Tom Watson and D.A. Weibring.

A single-day grounds ticket is just $20 plus tax and fees. This ticket is valid for grounds admission, good any one day, from August 17-21. A weekly clubhouse-access ticket is available for $125 plus tax and fees and offers admission to the grounds and to the clubhouse every day during the competition rounds, August 18-21. Food and beverage is available in the clubhouse for additional purchase. Children 18 and under and active, retired and reserve military personnel are admitted to the grounds at no charge.
