It’s becoming a Labor Day tradition, supporting the Folds of Honor Foundation simply by playing golf, and the players club at Patriot Hills spearheaded by Bob Marino raised $4,000 this year. The event was run by head pro Dave Fusco, assistant pro Ron Gerhold and volunteers from the players club and community.
A closest-to-the-pin contest was run on the 10th hole all weekend.
Golfers made a $10 donation and walked away with a sleeve of Titleist NXT golf balls with the Patriot Golf Day logo if they hit the green. There was a new closest-to-the-pin winner each day. Steve McLaughlin (8-feet, 7 inches), Bob Marino (4-1), Yukio Sonoda (2-8) and Jong Suk Kang (9-5) all won $150 pro shop gift certificates. Marino donated his to Folds of Honor, which provides postsecondary educational scholarships for the children and spouses of military men and women disabled or killed while serving.
