The quarterfinals are set up.
Defending champion Carl Alexander remains in the running for another title at the MasterCard Westchester PGA Championship at Whippoorwill Club. The director of golf at the Golf Club of Purchase defeated Rolling Hills’ Ray Ford in the Round of 32 on Tuesday and moved on with a 5 and 4 win over Quaker Ridge’s Phil Cardwell. Golf Club of Purchase assistant Kirk Satterfield also survived.
Play was delayed for two hours due to fog.
Host professional Jim Wahl continues to play despite claims that he wasn’t exactly up to par heading in. Old Oaks head pro Bobby Heins dismissed his student, reigning player of the year Danny Balin, in the morning, but lost to Patrick Lanagan of Trump National Westchester in the afternoon.
