Frank Bensel was the only member of the Met Section to break par in the opening round of the 45th PGA Professional National Championship yesterday in Seaside, Calif. The Century assistant shot a 4-under 68 on the Black Horse Course and is tied for third. Bensel, who is making his ninth appearance in this championship, is two shots behind leader and three-time champion Mike Small.
