Nate Berman (Willow Ridge), Max Buckley (Westchester), Colin McDade (Winged Foot) and Mike Miller (Knollwood) are all on the course at Pinehurst No. 8 this morning for the first round of stroke-play qualifying at the 112th North and South Amateur. The field is cut to low 60 and ties after the second round, and the top 16 after three rounds move on to
the famed Pinehurst No. 2 for match play.
The event was started way back when to promote the five-year old golf resort, and to “foster good relations between geographic regions that only a generation earlier had battled in the Civil War.” It’s billed as the longest-consecutive running amateur golf tournament in the country.
Scores will be posted on the event’s website. Click here to follow along.
