Nicole Morales was tied for the lead after two rounds of the AJGA’s Rolex Tournament of Champions, but carded a 72 at Lancaster (Pa.) Country Club to slip into fourth place with a 1-over 211 total.
The 17-year-old South Salem resident, who committed to Alabama in the fall, is five shots behind Alison Lee, a UCLA recruit who shot a 67.
Morales, who came from behind in the final round to win the AJGA’s Thurnderbird Invitational the last week of May, had three birdies and three bogeys on Thursday before she closed out her round with a costly double on the 18th hole.
Theo Humphrey, a Greenwich, Conn. resident who plays out of Sleepy Hollow and graduated from RCDS, is tied for the lead in the boys division. The Vanderbilt signee shot a 68 on Thursday and is at 6-under 204 along with Matt Gilchrist, a Texas native who signed to play next season at Auburn.
