Theo Humphrey (Sleepy Hollow) finished tied for sixth at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley. The 18-year-old from Greenwich made five bogeys on the back nine Saturday, closing with a 5-over 77. The Vanderbilt signee finished with a 2-over total of 218.
Cameron Young (Sleepy Hollow) as tied for 18th with a 7-over total. The 16-year-old from Scarborough who is committed to Wake Forest bogeyed five holes on the front nine, but he closed strong and scraped together a final-round 76.
Scottie Scheffler, the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur, was the winner. The 17-year-old from Dallas closed with a 1-under 71 to finish a stroke ahead of Cameron Champ. The field at Sage Valley is largely comprised of the game’s top 54 junior players, and is widely considered among the most exclusive at that level.
