Cameron Young was part of two points Friday, helping the MGA stay within striking distance of the Ligue de Paris on the first day of the 17th French-American Challenge at Golf de Saint-Cloud. The senior at Fordham Prep teamed with New Jersey Mid-Am champion Trevor Randolph in foursomes and beat Sebastien Gandon and Jeremy Gandon 4 and 2. Young, a Scarborough resident who plays out of Sleepy Hollow CC, paired with Met Am champion David Pastore in four-ball and posted a 5-and-3 win over the Gandons.
The Ligue de Paris had a 5 1/2 to 4 1/2 lead heading into the singles matches.
Dylan Newman (Hunterbrook) teamed with Michael Stamberger in foursomes and picked up a 3-and-2 win. Sam Bernstein (Century) went out with Stamberger in four-ball and got a point with a 2-and-1 victory. Ellen Oswald (Westchester) and Liliana Ruiz-Munoz (Trump-Westchester) halved a four-ball match.
