Danny Balin picked up his first tour win over the weekend, after thunderstorms forced the cancellation of the final round at the Guatemala Stella Artois Open. The 33-year-old Burning Tree assistant was nine holes into his fourth round at La Reunión Golf Resort and tied for the lead when the PGA TOUR Latinoamérica event was cancelled and scores were reverted to 54-hole totals. Balin finished up a bogey-free, 6-under 66 earlier in the day to get to 15-under for the championship, four strokes ahead of Eric Dugas of Brewster, Massachusettsone. The former Met Open champion and past Met PGA player of the year has been on the PGA TOUR Latinoamérica for three years. It was his first top 10 of the season, and moved him into fourth place on the tour’s order of merit.
